May They Be One Bible Campaign
This is a Campaign by the Episcopal Commission on the Biblical Apostolate (ECBA) of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) in partnership with the Philippine Bible Society (PBS), and other Christian churches. This five-year nationwide Campaign (2009-2013) aims to put a Bible in every home and encourage Filipinos to read and live the Bible resulting in the transformation of the Philippines. May They Be One is our response to the prayer of Christ for all His children to ‘be one,’ (John 17.21) since unity is vital for making the Word of God accessible, understandable, respected and lived. It is also a call for oneness in individuals, families, and communities resulting in unity among various sectors in working for national transformation. This is a timely project that will respond to the need for low-cost or free Bibles for children and youth, soldiers, women, and poor families. May They Be One is inspired by the World Synod of Bishops in Rome on October 5-26, 2008 which has as its theme, “The Word of God in the Life and Mission of the Church. The Campaign aims to raise sufficient funds within the Philippines and overseas, to enable at least 5 million Bibles to be sold at the subsidized price of P50 each, over a 5-year period commencing in 2009.

Bibles for Men and Women in Uniform
This three-year project (2008-2011) is the Bible Society’s response to many requests for Bibles among men and women in uniform (soldiers, police, firemen, members of the coast guard). For more than two decades now, our soldiers have been associated with several coup attempts or efforts to destabilize the government. But many members of the police and military have since undergone seminars/training offered by churches and organizations, aimed at providing spiritual nurture, such as “Purpose-Driven Life”, and ”Military Values Education”. This created the clamor for a Bible that will help the people involved in the defense service grow spiritually. The Bible for Men and Women in Uniform aims to help those in the defense service gain a new perspective of their sworn duty to protect the people and punish the wrongdoers, instead of being perceived as “lawbreakers” themselves. The special Bible is expected to inspire the members of the military and police to become “change agents” in their work place and to be instrumental in building the tattered image of their respective institutions.

Bibles for the Judiciary
This project, an initiative by Chief Justice Renato S. Puno, aims to help transform the members of the Judiciary so that they will “dispense justice and help build a transformed nation through the power of God’s Word”. The project seeks to provide every member of the Judiciary, starting with the judges and justices, with a copy of the Bible during Chief Justice Puno’s term in the High Court. The entire judiciary consists of the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, Sandiganbayan, Court of Tax Appeals, Regional Trial Courts, Metropolitan Trial Courts, and Municipal Trial Courts. There are about 2000 judges/justices presiding in these courts.
